Integrating Therapy and Nutrition for Whole Person Mental Health

Welcome to Sharon DeGuevara Counseling!

Sharon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Colorado with more than 25 years of experience working in private practice, community mental health, counseling agencies, hospitals, and residential treatment. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa in 1997 and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver in 1999.

Sharon provides therapy for adults, adolescents, and families, with expertise in anxiety, depression, grief and loss, mood disorders, trauma, PTSD, parenting, family communication, and nutrition for mental health. She is a Certified Mental Health & Nutrition Clinical Specialist (CMHNCS), Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), Certified Mindfulness-Informed Professional (CMIP), and Certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Sharon is also the co-creator of MindFUEL+, a program for optimizing mental & emotional health through strategic nutrition. MindFUEL+ is built on the belief that food isn’t just fuel, it’s the foundation for whole-body health, and that what we eat directly supports our brains, lifts our moods, and steadies our nervous system. Her passion for nutrition and holistic wellness inspires her work with clients, showing how mindful eating, movement, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques work together to enhance mental and emotional well-being.

Her counseling style is welcoming, approachable, and collaborative. Sharon draws from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). While she uses a range of therapeutic tools, her primary focus is helping clients identify and build on their strengths, develop coping skills, and create positive, lasting change. Sharon believes everyone deserves an opportunity to improve their situation and live with greater balance, purpose, and joy.

Outside of her practice, Sharon has been married to her husband for 25 years and has three children. She is also an avid runner and a certified yoga teacher who practices regularly. Her own passion for movement, mindfulness, and nutrition inspires her work with clients as they learn to support both their mental and physical health.
